Explorers is a social recreation program of Community Connections. This program offers adults with IDD/ASD opportunities to experience new things, learn social skills and develop meaningful friendships.
Through this program participants experience more inclusivity in the communities where they live and work as well as an opportunity to pursue their lifelong hopes, goals, and dreams. The Explorers program offers real-life experiences for individuals in the spirit of, “let’s have fun and learn about each other.”
It is also an opportunity for the community to engage with the people we serve and form positive relationships with them.
Explorers is a fee-based program
There is no public funding for this social recreation program. Community Connections pays for staff coordination and oversight of the activities and transportation from the meetup location.
You choose the activities that interest you. Activities range from $10 for evening entertainment at the Coffee House to $200 or more for a day trip, such as Nantucket that includes high-speed ferry, lunch, museum tickets, and staff support.
For all Explorers activities, transportation from your home to the meetup location is available at an additional cost.

Long Pastures Full Moon Walk: Friday January 6th
Join a Mass Audubon naturalist for this guided evening walk at the sanctuary. We will look and listen for nocturnal wildlife, as we enjoy the sun setting over Cape Cod Bay and the full moon rising over the treetops to the east Join us from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, Limited to 4 participants.Cost: $60.00. Frozen Fenway 2023- Saturday January 7th Northeastern Huskies vs UConn Huskies College Men Hockey.
On the heels of the 2023 NHL Winter Classic between the Boston Bruins and Pittsburgh Penguins, Frozen Fenway 2023 presented by Moderna, and the U.S. Virgin Islands will feature some of the most prestigious teams in college hockey. Join us from 12:30 pm -7:00 pm, Limited to 4 participants. Cost: $275.00. Includes: transportation from CCI (Community Connections Inc) to the event and back. Nasty Habits Taunton MA: The Rolling Stones Tribute Friday January 13th
Nasty Habits returns to the District with a Rolling Stones experience like you have never seen before! Do not miss the party. Join us from 6:30 pm –11:30 pm. Cost: $130.00. BOWLING: Tuesdays January 3, 10, 17, & 24
Let us have a fun time as we bowl together and develop friendships! It is a wonderful way to exercise and have fun with friends. This event is for all skill levels and ages. From 4 pm to 6 pm, we will meet at Ryan’s Ten Pin Eatery Cape Cod Mall on Tuesdays. If you choose to purchase food or snacks, please bring your money. Bowling 2 hours- Limited to 8 participants. Cost: $17.00 per event. Transportation from your home to the meeting location is available at an additional cost.
COOKING CLASSES: Monday, January 9, 23 & 30
Do you like having fun, making delicious meals, and making new friends and relationships? You have come to the right place, let us cook together. We will enjoy a meal together, and you will have a meal to take home. Join us for 2-hour cooking classes from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Dennis Union Church Rt. 6a Dennis- Limited to 10 participants. Cost $40.00 per class. Transportation from your home to the meeting location is available at an additional cost.
