At Community Connections our staff members are our clients greatest champions – working tirelessly to achieve the individual goals of each person so that they can continue to grow and thrive as independent community members.
For John, communicating has always been a challenge. He had limited verbal communication skills and would “mumble” when he wanted to express himself. His goals over the years have been to improve social interaction skills and initiate conversations.
For Amanda Dillon-Abrantes,working hard to achieve results is nothing new. As a Speech Therapy Assistant she has worked creatively to help meet each individual’s goals and objectives. Together Amanda and John have worked to improve John’s social communication skills.
Today John speaks in single words and short phrases. John’s tone has improved significantly, and he is more social throughout the day. These are extraordinary accomplishments for John.
